About Us

From 50/50 Share milkers and dairy herd owners, to raring beef calves for the 100kg market,
which slowly declined as time rolled on, and we ventured more & more into breeding heritage poultry,
Sandy & Shane were the original founders of 'Poultry Valley & Lifestyle' which they have just recently sold,
Choosing to just keep these beautiful pigs, rare Buff Orpington Ducks and Muscovy now. . so Sandy can get back into her horses again !

Sandy is a keen horse rider from Hastings (Hawkes Bay) and moved to the Waikato in June of 1995 to go dairy farming,
and after two years, went on to buy a herd of dairy cows and went 50/50 Share milking in the Tahuna district
from June of 1997 for 3 years,
before buying their own little piece of paradise.!
Shane is a qualified tradesman from Hamilton, who did his trade as a panel beater and is now also a boat builder. .
Proud to be the original founders & owners of 'Poultry Valley & Lifestyle' having enjoyed years of breeding their quality heritage breeds,
they have now Sold their poultry breeding business ( the new owners moved all away and took over on the 1st April 2017 )
now deciding to just keep their much loved pigs and ducks only, to free up some time for their other hobbies and to do some traveling,
which had all slipped to the back burner for so long while they built up Poultry Valley. .

We moved to the Mangawhara Valley in 2000, after being locals in the area just around the corner where we had been 50/50 share-milking for the previous 3 years.

While awaiting the title to come through on our new block,
we were renting a house on the neighboring boundary.
Finally during Easter (2001) our title came through and we were able to move our house onto our own 'little piece of paradise'
the rest is history as they say, and we have been here in our beautiful Valley for over 16 years now.

At first we were more focused on raring beef calves, but as time rolled on, we moved more & more into breeding purebred heritage poultry and in 2009 we changed our name and were the founders of ' Poultry Valley & Lifestyle ' having now sold this flourishing business to the new owners who have moved all to Waiuku, we are now content to just keep our pigs and a few of our favorite Ducks.
